John Edward Williams, 74, of Hazle Township, passed away early Tuesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton, with his family by his side.
Born in Milnesville, July 10, 1942, he was the son of the late John and Florence (Reed) Williams and had spent his entire life in Hazle Township.
John was the proprietor of Williams Marine, Milnesville. He had also worked as the Building and Code Enforcement Officer for Hazle Township and in the residential and commercial construction industry.
John was a long-time member of the Hazle Township Fire & Rescue Company. He enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, boating, and trap shooting. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially the time with his grandson, Andrew John Sweet, prior to his passing on February 22, 2011.
Surviving are his wife, the former, Mary Ann Verbonitz; a son John A. Williams, Hazle Township; a daughter Cynthia Ann Williams, Drums; four sisters Sylvia Andrulevich and her husband Joseph, Reading; Loretta Richards, Lancaster; Uvaughn McKeigham, Michigan; and Mary Ellen Miller, Corning, NY; and several nephews.
A public viewing will be held Thursday 6-8 pm at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Funeral services and burial, next to his grandson, in St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St. Johns will take place privately.
