Joann (Cusat) Rusnock

Joann Rusnock, 78, of Hazleton, passed away Thursday morning at her home following a lengthy illness.

Born in Hazleton, July 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Cusati) Cusat, and spent most of her life in Hazleton.

She was retired from the dietary department at Mountain City Nursing Center, Hazleton,.  She had also previously worked in the cafeteria at Hazleton High School and at Bonanza Restaurant.

She was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton and enjoyed cooking and baking.

Surviving are her husband George, to whom she was married 54 years on July 29, 2015; a daughter Janine Surmick, and two grandchildren Brett and Lorrin Surmick, Hazle Township;  two sisters Molly Puhak, Milnesville; and Josephine Boyer, Winter Garden, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am from Queen of Heaven Parish at Our Lady of Grace Church, 750 N. Vine St., Hazleton.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday evening 6-8 pm.  A Christian Wake Service will be held Sunday evening.
