Helen Sloane Ciuzio

 Helen Sloane Ciuzio, 91, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Friday morning at her residence.

Born in Bronx, NY on April 2, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Molly (Kalisch) Sloane and had spent the last six years in Sugarloaf after moving from Brooklyn, NY. She cherished her many summers spent at her home at Pocono Manor.

Helen held a Masters degree in Childhood Education from Hunter College. She later worked as a Development Director for the Berkeley Carroll Street School in Brooklyn, PBS Channel 13, and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.  She was a member of the Methodist Hospital Guild and President of the Pocono Manor Cottage League. She had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and cross country skiing.  Helen had a love for theater, music, and the Arts. She also enjoyed reading mystery novels, especially those of Dick Francis, and sketching in her spare time. 

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband Richard John Ciuzio, who passed away in December 2009, brothers Philip, Max and Harry Sloane, and a sister Miriam Glikson.

Surviving are her three children, Gina Hilliard and her husband Keith, Sugarloaf; Ted Ciuzio and his wife Marilyn, Ossining, NY; Gary Ciuzio and his wife Kristy, Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren, Justin, Parker and Connor Ciuzio; and several nieces and nephews.
