Michael “Murph” Sullivan, Jr., 86, of Shenandoah, passed away Friday morning at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem.
Born in Shenandoah Heights, July 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Galabus) Sullivan, Sr. and had spent the last six years in Shenandoah after moving from Zion Grove.
Michael was a truck driver and a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston. He was a life member of United Mine Workers of America, a member of the Shenandoah Heights Fire Co., and the North Union Rod and Gun Club.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Olive Leskovitch, who passed away July 21, 2010; sisters, Helen Tomczak; Josephine McAndrew; Loretta Marie, IHM; Johanna Lackett; and Betty Posessky; brothers, Richard and John Sullivan, and Edward Delowrey.
Surviving are sisters, Ann Opanel, Pattersonville; Loretta Skubel, Shenandoah Heights; Peggy Lackett, Ashland; Annette Speidel, Frackville; and Marie Sullivan, Brandonville. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 am in Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston, with the Rev. Patrick McDowell celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call at the church from 9 am until the time of the Mass.
