William A. Planutis, 94, of Sugarloaf, passed away Monday morning, October 4, 2021 at Saint Luke's Manor in Hazleton, following a sudden illness.
Born in West Hazleton, April 18, 1927, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Marcinkus) Planutis, Sr. and spent the past 70 years in Sugarloaf, after moving from West Hazleton.
William was employed as a Molder for Barrett-Haentjens, Hazleton. He served our country as a US Marine. He was a member of Saint John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, Sugarloaf. He was also a member of Preservers of the Past, Drums; attended the Hershey Regional Antique car show annually, and enjoyed collecting and accumulating antique cars, trucks and tractors.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister, Dorothy Henry and a brother, Gerald Planutis.
Surviving are his loving wife, the former Regina Kapes whom he was married on October 29, 1949; two sons, William A. Planutis, III., Sugarloaf; and Jeffrey Planutis and wife Cindy, Sugarloaf; two daughters, Terri Mock and husband Robert, Sugarloaf; and Donna Denial, Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston. There will be no public visitation.
