Theresa Maria "Terry" Bowser, 75, of Drums, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at her home following a three and a half year battle with cancer.
Born in Hazleton, September 30, 1945, she was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Delese) Chakan and spent her entire life in the Hazleton area.
Theresa was a 1963 graduate of Hazleton High School. She attended Airline School in St. Louis, MO, and Penn State University. She was hired as a Civilian Office Employee by the Pennsylvania State Police in January, 1968. She was known for her job knowledge, sunny disposition, and lady-like demeanor. She retired from the PSP on July 10, 1998, with her entire career at Troop N, Headquarters in Hazleton.
She was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City.
Surviving are her husband Owen B. Bowser, to whom she was married on May 5, 1995; a sister Carol Veglia and her husband Richard, Hazleton; a brother John Chakan, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Terry's wonderful, knowledgeable, and compassionate nurse Laina Wilkinson.
Her funeral will be held privately from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
