Stephen J. Supon

Stephen J. Supon Jr., 74, of Weston, passed away early Thursday morning, December 16, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, following a brief illness.

Born in Hazleton, December 26, 1946, he was the son of Veronica (Makara) Supon Pallaver, Weston, and the late Stephen Supon, Sr., and spent his entire life in Weston.

Stephen worked as a Machinist for Barrett and Haentjens/Weir Minerals, Hazleton, where he retired in 2011 after 45 years of service.  He was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War where he attained the rank of MR3. 

He was President of the Weston Athletic Association.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors.  After he retired, he went on a hunt to Africa and harvested four trophy animals.  He was a member of Shenandoah Fish and Game Club, and the Park Crest Fish and Game Club, and a former member of the Hazleton Archery Club.  He enjoyed keeping up with the yard, and a vegetable and flower garden.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his step-father Victor Pallaver, and brother-in-law Carl Kapes.  

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Bonita (Yurcho) Supon to whom he was married on December 27, 2007 in Jamaica; four daughters Mary Kobrick and her husband Fred; Ann Supon; Stephanie Malt; and Christy Strohl and her husband Ed Strohl; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister Kathleen Kapes, Weston; a brother Larry Supon and his wife Dorothy, Sugarloaf; numerous nieces and nephews and his German Short Hair Pointer, Jake.

His funeral will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston.  Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon 2-6 pm.
