Robert Thomas Marchetti, 74, of Sugarloaf, passed away April 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family following a 2 year illness.
Born in Hazleton on July 15, 1949, he was the son of the late Valentine and Mary (Marchetti) Marchetti and spent the past 50 years in Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania after moving from his childhood home in Conyngham.
Robert spent his working career being a heavy machine operator, last working for Rizzo's Trucking & Excavation. He was a proud 50+ year volunteer firefighter for Sugarloaf Volunteer Fire Company. He also served 6 years as a Pennsylvania State Constable. In his spare time he enjoyed camping with his family, playing the organ, and spending time with his grandchildren/great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother William (Billy) Marchetti and one great-grandchild.
Surviving are his loving wife, Eleanor (Welsh) Marchetti to whom he was married on November 4, 1972. Also surviving are three sons Greg Marchetti, GA; Kevin Marchetti and companion Sandra Pinkstone, Pottsville; Mark Marchetti and wife Holly, Mountain Top; one daughter Kimberly Walston and husband Zachary Walston, NC; brother David Marchetti and wife Nancy, Drums; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday April 27, 2024 at 5:00 PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon from 3:00 PM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made to the Sugarloaf Fire Company in his honor. The family will be hosting a dinner following services at a location to be announced following the memorial.
