Jesus called Robert James Kobilis Jr., 64, of Drums back to his Heavenly home on Thursday evening, December 31, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He fought a long torturous battle against lung cancer for two-years and is now at peace.
Born in Lewisburg, August 14, 1956, he was the son of Robert Kobilis, Sr., Bloomsburg; and the late Esther Catalano, and spent the past 40 years in Drums, after spending his early years in Freeland.
Robert worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was a talented carpenter, mechanic, mason, and gardener. He truly was a jack of all trades. He had worked for PPL in various positions for 35 years.
He was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church, Drums. He loved to hunt, fish, ride his motorcycle, go camping and white water rafting with his sons and go on walks with his daughter enjoying the outdoors. He most of all cherished the time he spent with his friends, family, and pets. Robert was selfless with his time, always helping a friend or neighbor in need and volunteering through the Knights of Columbus.
He successfully met many challenges in life, especially overcoming his addictions. His family is so proud of his courage. We will miss him dearly but are happy that he is finally at rest.
Surviving in addition to his father, are his wife, the former Anita Capozzelli, to whom he was married on July 14, 1979; three children Robert III, Drums; John and his wife Monica Suarez, Miami, FL; and Julia Kobilis and her fiance James Campanaro, Drums; a brother Richard Rizzo and his wife Jennifer, Woodbridge, VA; a sister Donna Zions and her husband Robert, Palm Bay, FL: two granddaughters Angelina and Sofia who brought him much joy; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:15 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Good Shepherd RC Church, 87 S. Hunter Highway, Drums. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening 5-7 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to Hazleton Animal Shelter, PO Box 481, Hazleton, PA 18201. Online condolences can be entered and more information is available at www.harmanfuneral.com.
