Richard E. "Dick" Snell, of North Wales, PA and formerly of Drums passed away early Thursday morning, April 25, 2019 at Kindred Hospital of Philadelphia following a one-year illness.
Born in West Chester, PA, May 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Albert "Benny" and Julia (Recla) Snell. He resided in North Wales since October after moving from Drums, where he had lived for more than 25 years.
Richard was a retired Motorcoach Driver for Martz Trailways, Wilkes-Barre. He served with the US Army from 1957-1959 and played baseball for the Army while stationed overseas. He was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph, Hazleton. He enjoyed hunting and target and skeet shooting.
Surviving are his loving wife of the past 58 years the former, Irene Marie Hoppy; a daughter Dr. Corinne M. Snell, North Wales; a sister Jane Wylonis and her husband Thomas Wylonis, Harrisburg; two nieces and a nephew.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 3, 2019 at 10 am with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph, 604 N. Laurel Street, Hazleton. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends and family may call at the church Friday morning from 9 am until the time of the Mass.
