Michael J. O'Byrne, 56, of Hazle Township, passed away Monday morning March 15, 2021 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia following a short illness.
Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, October 23, 1964, he was the son of the late Harry and Helen (Chehovich) Kepping and spent the past 30 years in Hazle Township, after moving from Drums.
Michael was employed as a printer for Amcor, Valmont Industrial Park. He was a member of Holy Rosary RC Church, Hazleton. He was also a member of the Heights Rod and Gun Club, Hazleton Owls Club, and the Edgewood Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed golf, racecars, the outdoors, and fixing things around his home. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother John O'Byrne, Jr.
Surviving are his wife, of the past 26 years, the former Susan Polashenski; two sons Harry and Sean O'Byrne, both of Hazle Township; brothers and sisters Fred O'Byrne and his wife Sue, Mountain Top; Michele Ruchinski and her husband Dave, Nanticoke; Patty Rukstalis and her husband John, Wellington, FL; Donna Suhoski and her husband Francis, Nuangola; Daniel O'Byrne, Avon Park, FL; and Kevin Quinn and his fiancée Judy Furson, Nanticoke; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held with a private Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, Hazleton. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday evening 6-8 pm at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums.
