Maryann Kathryn (Zahay) Spevak

Maryann "Windy" Spevak, passed away on September 1, 2021, at her home in Sheppton, surrounded by her family.

Born September 3, 1959, to Robert and Ann Mae Zahay, Maryann was a devoted wife, mother, and Grammy.  She married the love of her life on her 18th birthday.  During their 44 years of marriage, they traveled the country, had two children, purchased D&L Communications, Inc., built a home, and retired, with plans to once again, travel the country.

Maryann was a diehard Eagles fan with a soft spot for animals, but her true passion lied right at home, a place she called "Grammy Daycare".  She adored her four grandchildren and took advantage of every opportunity to spoil them.  She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary where she had the opportunity to provide services to the local community.  Maryann loved scary movies and is surely looking forward to her debut on Ghost Adventures.  She will be fondly remembered for her fierce love and loyalty to her family, her absolute stubbornness and her devotion to making every holiday feel magical.

Her memory will be kept alive by her loving husband, Donald Spevak and puppy Charley; daughter Christine Budgeon and partner Tom Kennedy; son Donald Spevak, Jr and wife April; grandchildren Hunter, Christopher, Emma, and Juliana.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded by her parents; beloved great aunt Kathryn Sandt, and fur babies,  Abby, Chelsea, Tracer, and Nemo.

The family would like to thank Advantage Hospice for its thoughtful service.  They also wish to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown to Maryann and her family during her battle.

Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.  Memorial donations can be made to the Hazleton Animal Shelter, PO Box 481, Hazleton, PA 18201.
