John Hudson Obituary

John Walter Hudson, 79, of Black Creek Township, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at his residence following a sudden illness.

A lifelong Pennsylvania resident, John was born in Scottdale, March 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Curtis and Anna K. (Frey) Hudson and had spent over 20 years in Black Creek Township, after moving from Stroudsburg.

John attended Aliquippa High School where he was a state champion hurdler and received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Pittsburgh.  He was a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper having served for 29 years.  John worked in the Monroe County District Attorney's Office as County Detective then ended his police career as the Police Chief of Sugarloaf Township.  Prior to attending the State Police Academy, he served two years in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division and with the 1st Special Forces.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.  John was a sports enthusiast and was a lifelong fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, including the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Panthers.  He was a strong gentleman who adored taking care of his family.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife, the former Cecile Mae Montini, who passed away December 14, 2015; and a son, Matthew J. Hudson, who passed away February 13, 2015; and four siblings, Richard, Judy, Robert; and Gary.

Surviving are a son, Robert Hudson, Sugarloaf; a brother, Jim Hudson, Winston-Salem, NC; a sister, Jeannie McFadden, Mt. Pleasant; brother-in-law, Victor Paulus and his wife Elina, Tannersville; and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.  Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service.
