Joanne M. Kohler, 73, of Sugarloaf, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, following post surgical complications.
BBorn in Hazleton, January 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Harkins) Garbacik and spent most of her life Sugarloaf, after being raised in Weatherly.
Joanne was a dedicated mother, grandmother and loyal friend. She always put family first and took great pride in the successes of her children and grandchildren. Her love for music and musicals was contagious. Joanne attended The Dinner Club with her closest friends for over 30 years, sharing a life time of memories.
Joanne was a very hard worker at All-Phase Electric Supply, Friedman Electric., and the Continuing Education Department at Luzerne Community College.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her mother, by her loving husband James Allen Kohler, Jr., who passed away September 3, 2017; and a sister Kathy Schellhammer.
Surviving are two children, Kimberly Martini Baran and her husband Tony, Sugarloaf; and James Kohler and his wife Jasmin, Evergreen, CO; a step-daughter Denise Kohler and her husband Walter Cornet, Bensalem; four grandchildren, Owen, Olivia, Alex, and Mia; two step-grandchildren, Jake and Abby; and several nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 12, 2021 at 8 pm from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday August 12, 2021 from 6 pm until the time of the service.
