Jean Flynn Obituary

Jean M. Flynn passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Centre Care in State College, PA. Formerly of Conyngham and Hazleton, PA 

Jean was born in Mary D, Pennsylvania the youngest of four children to the late Joseph J. Sr. and Ann E. (Chickirda) McCluskey.

She is survived by her son, Sean and his wife Marisa of State College, PA, granddaughter Kaitlin (Kate) of North Carolina, sisters-in-law: Alice (Flynn) Cavallo and Paula (Parosky)
McCluskey as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John J.Flynn, an infant son, John, brothers: Edward McCluskey, Joseph McCluskey and a sister,
Dorothy (McCluskey) Waschko.

Jean was raised in Hazleton and graduated from Hazleton High School during which time she became the school's first female Junior Class President. After high school, Jean was employed by several Hazleton businesses, including Frank Swabb Equipment Company, Sears, Roebuck & Company and Prudential Insurance Company of America. After getting married, she relocated to Queens, NY and worked for The Swedenborg Foundation, New York City, NY.

Upon starting a family, Jean focused on being a homemaker. She and John later returned to Hazleton to raise their family. She was a devoted wife, mother and adoring grandmother (Nana). Jean enjoyed the peacefulness and calmness of taking daily walks through town, often to the library to read various newspapers and books.

Jean was a former member of: St. John Bosco RC Church of Sugarloaf, PA as well as St. Joseph Slovak RC Church and SS. Peter and Paul's RC Church of Hazleton. She will be
interred at Calvary Cemetery, Drums, PA in a private ceremony.
