James Curtis Sprout

James Curtis Sprout, 80, of Beaver Twp., passed away late Wednesday evening June 9, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton.

Born in Elkton, MD, March 31, 1941, he was the son of the late Fred and Mary (McQuistian) Sprout and spent the past 36 years in Beaver Twp., after moving from Hunlock Creek.

James was a Construction Supervisor for PPL up until his retirement in 1995.  Following his retirement from PPL he started Sprout Excavating, Beaver Twp.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Weston.  James was an extremely hard worker who enjoyed working with heavy equipment and tending his vegetable garden.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brother Leroy Sprout.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Sherry Ziller to whom he was married on April 16, 1994; four children Jeanette Harnish, Lancaster; Jessie Hassel, Lancaster; Joanne Gerrity and her husband John, Nanticoke; and Jamie Sprout and his wife Kristy, Lancaster; a stepson Mike LaBuda and his wife Tina, Beaver Twp.; two brothers Fred Sprout and his wife Hilda and Bud Sprout; four sisters Ellen Sexton; Pearl Sharlton; Barb Sexton; and Janet Cavandar; and many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston at the convenience of the family.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen is assisting the family with the arrangements.
