George Paul Platukis

George Paul "Tookie" Platukis Jr., 77, of Fern Glen, passed away Thursday afternoon April 16, 2020 at his home following a six-month illness.

Born in Hazleton, July 19, 1942, he was the son of the late George and Irene (Pekala) Platukis, Sr and spent most of his life in Fern Glen.

George was a retired Road Forman for PennDot. He was a US Air Force veteran serving in the early 1960's. He was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother Paul Platukis.

Surviving are two sons George III and his wife Cheri, Drums; and Brian and his wife Tammy, Weston; four grandchildren, Brittany, Jordan, Seth, and Alissa; two great-grandchildren Ava and Michelle; his long-time companion Jane Luxardo, Beaver Township; a sister Paulette Platukis, Cape May, NJ; a brother James and his wife Bobbi, Supply, NC; a sister-in-law Dolores Platukis, West Hazleton; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 3, 2020 at 11 am in Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston, where church restrictions limit the number in attendance to the first 35 people.  Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation Friday, July 3, 2020 from 9:30-10:30 am at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, the only restrictions at the funeral home are that all attending must wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
