Dorothy J. “Dot” Larock, 78, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Wednesday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville following a brief illness.
Born in Hetlerville, October 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Dale and Winifred (Slusser) McMurtrie and has spent the past 57 years in Sugarloaf after moving from Hetlerville.
Dot was a member of Black Creek U.M. Church, Sugarloaf, TOPS, Lillies of the Valley, and PFB. She enjoyed playing cards on Tuesdays, gardening, her flowers, and trips to local carnivals and to garage sales.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a sister Janet Kline, and brothers Arlo and Barry McMurtrie.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Donald P. Larock, three children, Patricia Kisenweather and her husband David; George Larock and his wife Karen; and Wendy Yurkanin all of Sugarloaf; three grandchildren, Kayla and Dana Kisenweather, and Donald J. Larock; brothers and sisters, Donald McMurtrie and his wife Sandra, Berwick; Lloyd McMurtrie and his wife Shirley, Fairport, NY; Audrey Bower and her husband George, Mifflinville; Gladys Nevius, Lime Ridge; David McMurtrie and his wife Helen, Berwick; Shirley Napierski, Lime Ridge; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in Black Creek U.M. Church, 158 Golf Course Road, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church Saturday morning from 9:00 am until the time of the service.
