Donald Evans, Sr. Obituary

Donald L. Evans Sr., 85, of Hazleton, passed away Thursday morning June 3, 2021 at the Pavilion at Saint Luke Village, Hazleton, following a short illness.

Born in Factoryville, March 17, 1936, he was the son of the late Nelson and Gertrude (Walter) Evans and spent the past 54 years in Hazleton, after moving from Bloomsburg.

Donald was a US Army veteran having served from 1959 - 1961.  He was employed as a Technician for UGI from 1966-1999, prior to his retirement.  He was a member of Faith UCC Church, Hazleton.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a 22 month old son, Jeffrey, who passed away in 1965; three sisters Geneva Eitell, Betty Butt, and Doris Harmon; and four brothers Sterling, Nelson, Rodger, and David Evans.  

Surviving are his wife, the former Joan Grosch, to whom he was married on August 31, 1963; two sons Donald Jr., Brunswick, MD; and Daniel, Pennsburg; four grandchildren Jessica, Sarah, Wyatt, and Mary Jessica Evans; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held privately from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums.  Online condolences can be entered and more information is available at www.harmanfuneral.com.
