Bernard Stratchko Obituary

Bernard A Stratchko, 67, of Drums, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, after an unxpected illness at home.

Born in Hazleton, July 8, 1953, he was the son of the late Bernard and Marie (Ksanznak) Stratchko and spent the past six years in Drums, Pennsylvania after moving from Kelayers.

Bernard was a retired Physical Education Teacher for Tri-Valley High School, Hegins. He was a 1971 gradute of Hazleton High School, where he was a standout baseball player. He was signed by the Baltimore Orioles organization after high school, but an injury in college ended his baseball career. He was an avid physical fitness enthusiast, and boxing instructor. He was a former member of All Saints RC Church, McAdoo and attended St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf.

Surviving are his wife, of the past 40 years, the former Catherine Russo; two daughters Tina Bugda and her husband Thomas, and Amy Stratchko and her companion Bill Feissner, White Haven; two granddaughters,Kaysi and Autum Bugda; three brothers Robert, Harrisburg; Frank and his wife Norma, Maryland; and Joseph and his wife Alicia, Tresckow; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Monday August 10, 2020 at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday morning from 9:30 am until the time of the service..
