Anna Hazel Sanko, 98, of Sugarloaf, passed away Saturday morning at her residence.
Born in Nanticoke, November 13, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie (McAfee) Mowery and had spent her whole life in Sugarloaf.
Anna was a homemaker who enjoyed playing Yatzee, making crafts, reading, farming and watching Family Feud and the Lone Ranger.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents by her husband, Charles Sanko, Sr. who passed away in 1972; a son, Charles Jr.; two infant children; brothers Wilbur, Reese and Elmer Mowery; sisters, Rachael Miller and Margaret Schaffer; son-in-law, Paul Lloyd; grandchildren, Kenny, Charles and Sharon; and great-granddaughter, Sara.
Surviving are three children, Andrew and his wife Irene, Sugarloaf; Mary Lloyd, Sugarloaf; and Frank and his wife Debra, Barnsville; ten grandchildren, Lisa, Andy, Allyson, Linda, Paul, Dawn, Brian, Melissa, Erica and Danielle; 26 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums followed a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Hazleton. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm.
