Lester C. Schramm Jr., 81 of Sugarloaf passed away Monday afternoon at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Born in Abington, PA April 14, 1935, he was the son of the late Lester Schramm, Sr., and Mabel Feland and had spent the past 25 years in Sugarloaf after moving from Coopersburg.

Lester retired as VP of Operations from Carlisle Plastics, Berwick. After retiring he was an instructor at SIBT and also taught Adjunct at Bloomsburg University. Lester was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers, the Drug Task Force in Hazelton, and the Lehigh Valley and Greater Hazelton Area Chamber of Commerce. He served in the US Army following the Korean conflict and was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Right of Trenton NJ. He was a certified sailing captain, as sailing was his passion.

Surviving are his wife of the past 56 years the former Maureen Edwards, four children Lester C Schramm III and his wife Barbara, Kingsport, TN; Joyce Bigelow and her husband Gordon, Stockertown, PA; Dorothy Schramm, Hammondsport, NY; and John Schramm and his wife Karen, East Stroudsburg, PA; ten grandchildren: Amber, Robert, Stephanie, Shauna, David, Matthew, Johnny, Benjamin, Mariel, and Conner; and one great-grandson Kayson.  Also surviving are a half-sister Cindy Eitel and a step brother Dave Edwards.

His funeral will take place on Thursday with a memorial service at 4 PM at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, PA.  Internment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon from 2-4 PM.
