Grace Babula, 93, of West Hazleton, passed away early Saturday morning at Mt. City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton following a four-month illness.
Born in Rock Glen, October 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Rough) Welsh and spent most of her life in West Hazleton.
Grace worked as a housekeeper and also at Steven’s Bakery, West Hazleton.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her husband Frank “Nanky” Babula, who passed away in 1958; two sons Francis and James Babula; a grandson David Babula; brothers Carl, Glen, Dale, Royce, and Donald; and sisters Dorothy, Prudence, and Margaret.
Surviving are three children Ronald Babula, Sr. and his wife Joanne, West Hazleton; Larry Babula, West Hazleton; and Debbie Urenovitch and her husband John, Drums; a daughter-in-law Dolores Babula, Lattimer; eight grandchildren Ronald, Jr., James, Joseph, Richard, Frank, Kathy, Krisitin, and Terri; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters Louise Kowalski, Hazleton; Fay Wagner, Drums; and Audrey Welsh, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2015 at 10 am in Trinity Lutheran Church, 5 E. Green Street, West Hazleton, with the Rev. Wayne Lupole officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.
