Florie (Scaran) Lesko

Florie Lesko 87, of Conyngham passed away peacefully at her home early Friday morning surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.

Born in Hazleton April 2, 1929 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Lena (Blasi) Scaran and spent the past 56 years in Conyngham after moving from Hazleton.

Florie ran her own beauty shop in Conyngham for many years.  She also was a cosmetology teacher at the Hazleton Area Vocational Technical School for 20 years prior to her retirement.  She was a founding member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf.  She was very active in her community.  She was a founding member and director of CVCO, helped to build the CVCO pool in Conyngham; and was active in Valley Day with the corn booth.  She was in involved with the Memorial Day and Halloween parades and decorating.  She was a founding board member of Brainerd Historical Church, Sybertsville.  She was an Election Day poll worker in Conyngham.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a sister Mary Lou Nye; and a brother Anthony Scaran.

Surviving are her husband Robert, to whom she was married 42 years on August 14, 2016; a daughter Deborah Santangelo, and a granddaughter Tara Santangelo, both of Conyngham; two nieces and several great nieces and great nephews.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East) 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s of the Assumption Cemetery, McAdoo.  Friends may call at the funeral home Monday evening 6- 8 pm.  A Christian Wake Service will be held Monday evening.
