Clara J (Blakeslee) Kairewich

Clara J. Kairewich, 84, formerly of West Hazleton passed away Tuesday at Golden Living Center-Summit, Wilkes-Barre, following a lengthy illness.

Born in Hazleton, June 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Albert V. and Dorothy B (Shellhammer) Blakeslee and spent most of her life in West Hazleton.

Clara was a homemaker and later in life also worked at Boscov’s.  She was a member of the former St. Paul’s U.C.C., West Hazleton.  She enjoyed reading, playing cards, dining out, and spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, by her first husband Donald W. Champion, who passed away in 1955, and her second husband Robert, 1993.

Surviving are her six children Dorothy Supon and her husband Larry, Sugarloaf; Margaret Huff and her husband Larry, St. Johns; Donna Berta and her companion Andy Davis, Conway, SC; Robert M. Kairewich and his wife Teresa, Weatherly; Mark A. Kairewich and his wife Pamela, West Hazleton; and Catherine Lowry, West Hazleton; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a sister Catherine Deakin and her husband William, Mt. Laurel, NJ; a brother Leonard Blakeslee and his wife Frances, Punta Gorda, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
