William E. Kalinowski

William "Bill" "Willie" Kalinowski, 75, of Sugarloaf, beloved husband of 47 years to Audri Lori (Long) passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 19, 2025, after a courageous fight with a brief illness. 

He was born November 19, 1949, in Shenandoah, one of three children to the late Edward and Mildred F. (Eckley) Kalinowski.

He was an Air Force veteran, a talented carpenter, a lifelong member of the Carpenters Union Local 76, Hazleton; and Local 445, Scranton; and owner of William E. Kalinowski Carpentry. His proudest accolade is that of his family, including his three children, Justin (Amanda) Kalinowski, Sugarloaf; Dr. Melissa (Gene) Palka, West Point, NY; and Melanie (Robert) Broyan, Sugarloaf. He is the grandfather of nine including Maliyah, Addison, Gene "Hunter", Brock, Jayson, Alexa, Axel, Alana, and Alora. 

He was a talented craftsman who built homes for his children, relatives, and friends. He proudly supported his granddaughter by sharing his talents and mentoring her in her Girl Scout Gold Award project where together they built a retaining wall and patio at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, West Point, NY.

Since childhood he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a resident of Quiet Oaks Campground where he loved spring trout fishing and hunting. He was appreciative of the friendships he built there over the years. He loved family vacations bass fishing on Lower Lake Beverly, at Cedar Knoll Campground, in Canada. In January of this year, he experienced the culmination of his hunting hobby with a successful elk hunt shared with his son and grandson. He also enjoyed spectating at his grandchildren's sporting events and watching his favorite teams including Penn State football and wrestling, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Phillies.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren he is survived by his sister Betty Ann (Robert) Bugden, Shenandoah, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death, in addition to his parents by a brother, Edward M. Kalinowski.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 10 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf.  Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus RC Cemetery, Shenandoah. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 AM until the Mass.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
