Thomas J. Yencho, Jr.

Thomas J. Yencho, Jr., 74, of Weston, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 14, 2025, at his residence following a one-year illness.

Born in Hazleton, September 23, 1950, he was the son of Reena T. (Pretti) Yencho, Weston; and the late Thomas J. Yencho, Sr. and had spent most of his life in Weston.

Tom was a 1968 graduate of West Hazleton High School. He was employed as a Supervisor for the Mine Safety Health Administration. Prior to working for the federal government, he had worked as a heavy equipment operator and dragline operator for Pagnotti Enterprises, Hazleton and Reading Anthracite, Pottsville. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1968 - 1972 and was also a member of the SAC Elite Guard while he was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Weston, the American Legion Post #699, Nuremberg; VFW Post #8161, Conyngham; and the Park Crest Fish and Game Club, Brandonville. In his spare time Tom loved working and spending time in the garage with his son.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his father, by his sister, Melanie Yencho.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his devoted wife, the former Patricia Tomcheck, to whom he was married on September 15, 1973; a son, Jesse Yencho and his wife Jennifer, Ringtown; a granddaughter, Karleigh Burke, Ringtown; a sister, Nancy Kowalski and her husband S.J. "Buddy", Zion Grove; two nieces, one nephew, and his pets, Sasha and Mr. Cat.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11 AM in Sacred Heart RC Church, 554 Main St, Weston, PA 18256. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the Mass. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc.
