Thomas P. Orr, 72, of Eagle Rock, Hazle Township, passed away June 1, 2024 at home following a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, PA, June 23, 1951, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alberta (May) Orr and spent the past 13 years in Hazle Township, after moving from Harrisburg, PA.
Thomas was a 1969 graduate of West Scranton High School. He graduated from Mansfield University and also the University of Scranton. Thomas was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for 30 years in various managerial positions, his last as CFO of The Department of Public Welfare. He proudly served under 4 Pennsylvania Governors. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Dallas Cowboys. Tom was a unique and one-of-a-kind personality who lived life his own way. He always tried to fix wrongs, regardless of the consequences.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brother Michael.
Surviving is his wife, Candace (Perez) Orr to whom he was married on October 8, 1994 in Harrisburg. Also surviving are son Joseph Orr, Taylor, PA; daughter Megan McCabe and husband Brian, Old Forge, PA; and 6 grandchildren.
His funeral will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Harman Funeral Homes and Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Sugarloaf, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
