Thomas M. "Bobe" Makara, 73, of Black Creek Township, passed away Wednesday evening, January 5, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, following a short illness.
Born in Hazleton, March 25, 1948, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lucille (Lindenmuth) Makara, Sr. and spent the past six years in Black Creek Township, after moving from Nuremberg.
Thomas was a retired Laborer for several local manufacturing facilities. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1966 - 1969. He was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #699, Nuremberg; and member of Valley Vets, VFW Post #8161, Conyngham. He was a member of Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing and was a member of the Shenandoah Fish and Game Club. He was an avid Sports Fan, especially of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his first wife, the former Ann Markosky, who passed away January 21, 1998; a son Michael, May 7, 1972; a brother Robert, and a sister-in-law, Marie Houser.
Surviving are two daughters Debbie Biever and her husband Brian, Drums; and Tammy Mummey and her husband Brian, Black Creek Township; four grandchildren Kasey, Jason, Alivia, and Bronx; a brother Brad and his wife Linda, Doylestown; a sister-in-law Tina Davis and her husband Phil, Drums; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Barbara Makara, Freeland.
His funeral will be held Monday with a procession at Noon from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road. A military graveside service will follow at 12:30 pm in Nuremberg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday moring from 10 am until the time of the procession.
