Steven Evanofski

On January 25, 2025, Steve (Hunk) Evanofski passed away with his loving family holding his hand.  Steve spent 43 years with his loving wife Patti (Astorino).  He left behind two children, Stephanie Probert and her husband Dave; and David Bloss, Jr. and his fiancée Natalie Barletta. Also left behind are grandsons, Jonathan Stacey, Jonathon Probert, Gage McFadden and great-grandson, Flynn Stacey.  He also leaves behind a brother, Richard Evanofski and his companion Louise Compton; and a sister, Pat Kulp.  He is also survived by four nieces, four nephews and their children.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Bosco and Mary Latella.

Steve was a hard worker and always lending a hand to family and friends and even to strangers.  After graduation in 1966 he enlisted in the USAF, to proudly serve his country.  He completed two tours in Vietnam in the cities of Danang and Phan Rang, where he was a Flightline Aircraft Mechanic.  Prior to retiring he was employed by Perchak Trucking.  He was in the Evergreen Race Club, a member of the Conyngham VFW and the Freeland American Legion Post 473, and a member of the Freeland American Legion Riders Post 473.

Steve's hobbies were riding his motorcycle, out catfishing on the Susquehanna River and feeding the birds and the deer in his yard.

The family would like to give thanks to the ICU nurses at GHP, Wilkes Barre, who treated him with compassion and made him smile.

His funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 3 PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums.  Interment will take place privately at the convenience of his family.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 PM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to help homeless veterans start over and transition back into civilian life at the Victory House of Lehigh Valley, 314 Fillmore St., Bethlehem, PA 18015 or to Orangeville Manor Personal, 210 Mill St., Orangeville, PA 17859 in Steve's honor.
