Stephen Sisock, Sr. Obituary

Stephen John Sisock Sr., of Conyngham, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 19, 2021, with his family at his son’s home.

Born in Hazle Brook, March 25, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Racovsky) Sisock and spent most of his life in the Hazleton area.

Stephen graduated from Hazleton High School in 1945 and attended the University of Scranton where he majored in Linguistics. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War where he was awarded two Bronze Stars. He worked for the Duplan Corp. and was a manager at the Sears Department Store on Broad Street in Hazleton. He later spent 30 years as a Sales Associate for the Home Life Insurance Company from where he retired in 1991. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf, and past member of St. John BC Church, Hazleton. "Tip" loved to travel with his son and adored time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and was getting ready to spend the day out in the beautiful weather when he peacefully passed.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a daughter Mary Susan; brothers Andrew, John, Michael, and James Sisock; and sisters Mary Puhak, Ann Lewis, Helen Zarko, and Dorothy Maguschak.

Surviving are three children Cathy Ann Salnicky and Deborah Walters and her husband David, Hazle Township; and Stephen J. Sisock Jr., Conyngham; friend and caregiver Thomas Pesock; grandchildren Kylie, Madison, and Troy Sisock and Aaron Butkovsky; a sister Elizabeth Ziats and her husband Fred, Park Place; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
