Selma R. (Zehner) Thrash

Selma R. Thrash, 95, of Conyngham, passed away Sunday evening, December 1, 2024, at Providence Place Retirement Community in Drums, where she had resided for the past year and a half.

Born in Rock Glen, May 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee Zehner and Prudence May (Welsh) Zehner Gross.  Selma grew up on the Zehner farm in Sugarloaf and later spent 50 years in Conyngham after moving from West Hazleton.

Selma was a 1947 graduate of Black Creek Twp. High School.  She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker for many years. Selma was a member of Black Creek United Methodist Church, Sugarloaf where she was very active in various functions and dinners with her church family.  She enjoyed camping and spending time in nature.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Harold R. Thrash who passed away July 2, 2023; son-in-law, Franklin Myers, sisters, Leona Acker, Pearl Neivus, Joan Carper, and Jane Zehner, and a brother, Eugene Zehner.

Surviving are three children, Donna Spangenburg and her husband Mark, Etters; Linda Myers, Rock Glen; and Roger Thrash and his wife Mallory, Swiftwater; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Arthur Zehner, Jr. and his wife Roseanne; and Richard Zehner; a sister, Grace Eckenrode; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at 7 PM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 PM until the time of the service.  Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
