Ronald Shenyo Obituary

Ronald Richard Shenyo, age 83, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Drums was called to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 6, 2021.

Born in Shenandoah, PA in 1937, he was the son of the late George and Mary Wilcko Shenyo.  Ronald lived and attended school in Sheppton and was a graduate of West Hazleton High School Class of 1956.

Ronald served in the U.S. Army as an Advanced Medical Specialist and Physician's Assistant.  He received the Good Conduct Medal for his exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity.  He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1962 after service at Boston Army Base.  He continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1966, where he was an Instructor and Supervisor of the First Aid Station at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey.

In 1966, Ronald married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Klatch from Hazleton.  The couple moved to New Jersey and resided in Milltown for approximately 12 years.

Acquiring his Department of Labor Biological Laboratory Technician Certificate at Middlesex County College, New Brunswick, NJ, he worked at E.R. Squibb & Sons as a Biological Laboratory Technician.  After moving their family back home to Pennsylvania in 1978, Ronald earned his Industrial Safety Certificate and began work as a Safety Coordinator for Tenneco Chemicals in Hazleton.  Furthering his career, Ronald became a Loss Control Specialist working for the Celina Financial Corporation based in Celina, OH for which he handled half the state of Pennsylvania.  After the company discontinued their Loss Control Department, Ronald continued this work becoming self-employed doing inspections for various insurance companies.  Taking advantage of an opportunity in 1991, with more study, Ronald advanced his career and became an Insurance Agent and Financial and Estate Planning Analyst for the Knights of Columbus.

Ronald was a Life Long Member of the Knights of Columbus first joining the Order in Edison, New Jersey.  After moving back to Pennsylvania, he was instrumental in forming Our Lady of Fatima Council 8613 at St. John Bosco and Good Shepherd Parishes in Conyngham and Drums. Ronald was a 4th Degree member of Pope Benedict XV Assembly.  Ronald served as Deputy Grand Knight and then as Grand Knight of Council 8613.  As a Trustee and Insurance Advisor, he was always available to assist where needed.
As an active member of St. John Bosco Parish, Ronald served as a Eucharistic Extraordinary Minister of Communion for 34 years.  He was also involved in helping at various Church functions for many years.

An active person, Ron loved to play golf especially at Edgewood in the Pines, winning a number of trophies and tournaments including the 2015 Super Senior Club Championship.   He enjoyed dancing, hunting, and just being in the woods close to nature.  He also coached boys' and girls' basketball.  After retiring at age 63, Ron and his wife, Patricia enjoyed vacationing in the winter months in Florida where they were able to spend time in the sun on the golf course for a number of years.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Shenyo and his brother Warren.
