Ronald Paul Grapsy, 86, of Beaver Township, passed away peacefully Monday morning, February 14, 2022 at his home following a short illness.
Born in Wilkes Barre PA, August 1, 1935, he was the son of the late Ray and Eve (Yezefski) Grapsy. Ronald lived his childhood and young adulthood in Pottsville, moved to Conyngham in 1980 and lived his last 27 years in retirement in Beaver Township.
Ronald and his late wife Rosanne were business owners of RP International, a Navistar Truck Sales and Service Center, Valmont Industrial Park. Ronald previously operated a similar business with his family in Pottsville. He was a US Navy veteran, on active duty from 1958-1961, and attaining the rank of LTJG. Ronald served 20 years as a navigator in the Naval Reserves based at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove and retired as Commander. He was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf, where he sang in the church choir and served as a lector. He was a proud member of the Hazleton Rotary and the Knights of Columbus and he actively participated in annual golf and bowling leagues.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife the former Rosanne Gonzales, who passed away August 27, 1991 and his brother, Ramon Grapsy.
Surviving are three children, Richelle Ann Vible and her husband Mark, Wilmington DE; Karen Rose Shaban and her husband Samir, Ashburn VA; and Ronald Grapsy, Jr., Whitehall; nine grandchildren Mark Vible, Jr. and his wife Sabrina Grouzat; Andrew Vible; Sarah Vible and her husband Kevin Clark; Hussein Shaban; Ronald Shaban and his wife Liz; Abdul Shaban; Alieh Rose Shaban; Benjamin Grapsy; Caitlin Grapsy and a great-grandson Atticus Albenzi; and his friend and companion Ainslie DeYoung.
His funeral will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 9:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West) 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening 6-8 pm.
