Robert Foose aka "Foosie" went to his Ponderosa in the sky May 16, 2023, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mom, dad and three trusty dogs.
Born on August 1, 1933, Foosie joined the Navy at an early age and served our country in the Korean War. After his service to the military he went to work for the US Government with the CIA. His career in the CIA allowed his family to travel the globe and experience many wonderful cultures which none of them will ever forget.
After an early retirement he moved home to his beloved farm in Nuremberg, to spend out his days. We can still see him on his couch, laying in the sunlight blaring Gunsmoke, once in awhile going out to get a snack. We will miss his many stories and Standard Speaker articles, all with commentary attached. He stayed home a lot but when the inkling hit him it was off to the races and there weren't too many barstools that weren't touched by him. Shuffleboard and bowling were his favorites, toss in a shot of Christian Brothers and he was good to go.
We know everyone out there has a few stories to tell.... way too many to put down on paper.
A special thanks and prayers to Mary Ann, Duane and Jennifer who were angels in helping out with the family being so far away. For that time they gave him, we are eternally grateful.
Surviving are four children, Jennifer Foose Bruno, Holly Springs, NC; Debbie Foose Bartrom and her husband Andy, Fuquay Varina, NC; William Foose and his wife Sandy, Melbourne, FL; and Cindy Conour, California; nine grandchildren, Sara, Anthony, Brian, Matt, Jill, Jonathan, Jared, Joshua, and Jesse.
His final pal Rusty, his beloved and trusted companion for many years has found a new loving home.
A private memorial will be held at a later date. Let us all raise a toast to Foosie, he was one of a kind.
