Robert J. Colombo Sr., 90, of Scranton, passed away Monday morning, October 11, 2021, at Smith Health Care Center, Mountain Top, where he had resided since May.
Born in Franklin, NY, February 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Yacabellas) Colombo and spent the past 34 years in Scranton, after moving from Commack, NY.
Bob was Machinist by trade, working on defense contracts before deciding to open his own machine shop, Colombo Manufacturing, which was in business for over 30 years. He had a passion for all sports and enjoyed playing softball, bowling, and golf well into his 70's.
He was a true family man who enjoyed watching and being involved in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's sporting events and other activities.
Bob was a friend to all and loved to be around others to talk about anything and everything.
Before his wife Bette passed, the two enjoyed being at their vacation spot in the Poconos.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife Elizabeth (Mehlin) Colombo and a son Chris Colombo.
Surviving are four children; Robert Colombo, Jr. and wife Cathy of West Hazleton; Loretta Eckert-Colombo of Sugarloaf; Laura Odinokow of Holtsville, NY; Bruce Colombo and wife Colleen of Commack, NY; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers John Colombo of Commack, NY; Joseph Colombo of Islip, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family, through Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc, (East) 669 West Butler Drive, Drums.
