Robert A. Acker, Jr.

Robert A. Acker, Jr., 64, of Catawissa, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Danville, following an illness.

 Born in Bloomsburg, August 25, 1959, he was the son of the late Robert A. Acker Sr. and Leona (Zehner) Acker, and spent the past four years in Catawissa, after moving from Danville.

 Robert was a 1978 graduate of Bloomsburg High School.  After graduation he served in the US Marines from 1978 to 1981.  He was a Human Resource Business Coordinator for PPL/Talen Energy Susquehanna Nuclear, Berwick, having retired in 2017.  Robert loved all the Philadelphia sports teams, especially the Eagles.  He was also an avid fan and season ticket holder since 1982 of Penn State Football.  Robert enjoyed attending dirt track racing at Selinsgrove Speedway, and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH.

 Surviving are two children, Jacob and Nicole Acker, both of Mifflinburg; two sisters Sandra McCabe and her husband Joseph, Berwick; and Cindy Kingston, Bloomsburg; four nephews, Shawn Millard and his wife Heather, Duboistown; Jamie Millard, Danville; John Kingston, Jr., Bloomsburg; and Jason Yohey, Millville; two nieces, Tanya Murdock and her husband Brandon, Bloomsburg; and Stacey McMahon and her husband Daniel, Columbus, GA; and several other nieces and nephews. 

 His funeral will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 11 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.  Burial will follow in Black Creek United Methodist Cemetery, Sugarloaf. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10 AM to 11 AM.
