Richard Allen Crawford, Sr.

Richard Allen Crawford, Sr., 78, of Drums, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest in Allentown, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hazleton, PA, August 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles and Mabel (Wirsing) Crawford.

Rich was a graduate of Hazleton High School, class of 1965. After graduating, he enlisted in the US Navy and served until August of 1968. He was a self-employed carpenter at Rich Crawford Carpentry and Tile, Drums and took great pride in his work. He had previously worked for Zanolini & Son, Drums and Hess's Concrete, Hazleton. He loved building and remodeling and specialized in ceramic tile. He liked to spend his free time hunting and fishing with his son and friends at a cabin in Shunk, PA and racing cars at Evergreen Raceway. Rich was the past President of the VFW Post #8161 in Conyngham and was fully involved in the remodeling of the current building. He was also a member of the Butler Twp. Fire Co. and the American Legion.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brothers, Robert and Donald Crawford, and a sister, Carol Smith.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 57 years, the former Carol F. Fetterman, to whom he was married on August 24, 1968 in Drums; three children, Carrie Ann Crawford, Sugarloaf; Roxanne "Rocky" Crawford, Drums; and Richard Allen Crawford, Jr. and his wife Tracy Karchner, Sugarloaf; three grandchildren, James Barr, Jr. and his wife Kim Quinn, Danville; Caitlin Carrelli and her husband Jared, Orefield; and Jared Richard Crawford, Drums; two great-granddaughters, Kelsea Grace and Callie Sofia Carrelli; a sister, Nancy Smith, Wapwallopen; a brother, Charles "Bud" Crawford and his wife Carol, Drums; and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Monday, September 15, 2025, at 11 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr., Drums. Interment will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening, September 14, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Rich will be remembered for his great sense of humor, witty sarcasm and having a nice cold (Bud) beer with friends and family. He enjoyed life and will be greatly missed and loved by his family and all who knew him.
