Richard Eugene Angelo

Richard E. Angelo, 80, passed away Saturday evening peacefully at home in Conyngham, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late John and Julia (Gigliotti) Angelo. The youngest of six children, he was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Marie (Angelo) Summers, Rev. Girard F. Angelo, Cecelia (Angelo) Dailey and Patricia A. Angelo, and was a member of St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church in Conyngham.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 58 years and high school sweetheart, Claudette (Yamulla) Angelo, daughter Kimberly Angelo Keck, Berwick, Lorine (Angelo) Ogurkis and husband Michael, Conyngham, son Richard G. Angelo and wife Stacy, Sugarloaf, son Nicholas A. Angelo, Drums; grandchildren Reed Keck, Brittany Sarosky and husband Michael, Dyllan Angelo Ogurkis and wife Kate, Delainy Ogurkis, Julia Ogurkis and Michael Ogurkis, Jr., Evrett and Lula Angelo; a great-grandson Jordan Sarosky; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Rich attended Hazleton High School and, after graduating in 1963, began a career in construction as a general contractor. In 1970, he founded his own company, which he incorporated in 1980 as Richard E. Angelo, Inc. He later established Hollywood Millwork, where he designed custom staircases, furniture and fine architectural woodwork for residential and commercial projects.

In addition to specializing in commercial construction, Rich expanded his expertise into real estate development. Among the greatest sources of fulfillment in his career was the opportunity to use his talents to mentor, encourage and inspire others across the construction industry. He earned the respect of customers, suppliers, subcontractors, longtime employees and community members alike, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

When not working, he spent every minute devoted to his family. For 53 years, his favorite week annually was spent with them in Ocean City, New Jersey, where he created beautiful and long-lasting memories that they will cherish. He also took great pride in sharing his family's Italian heritage, teaching traditional recipes for fried dough and aglio e olio to those he loved.

His funeral will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 11 AM in St. John Bosco RC Church, 573 PA-93, Sugarloaf, PA 18249. Interment will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery, 49 S. Hunter Hwy, Drums, PA 18222. Friends may call at the church on Thursday morning from 9 AM until the time of the Mass. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Dr, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.

His family was especially grateful for all the kindness extended to their husband and father throughout his illness with prayers, visits and cards. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1058 Peace Street, Hazle Twp, PA 18202 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
