Regina (Kapes) Planutis

Regina "Jean" Planutis, 94, of Sugarloaf, passed away early Monday morning, October 28, 2024, at her residence in Sugarloaf, following a brief illness.

Born in West Hazleton, October 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Irene (Drosdick) Kapes and spent most of her life in Sugarloaf.

Jean was a bank teller for several local banks, she was also a teacher's aide for Nuremberg Elementary, Rock Glen Jr. High School, and Valley Elementary.  She was a member of St. John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. Jean loved working with children, being a foster grandparent, and spending time in her garden. 

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, William A. Planutis; who passed away October 4, 2021; and brothers and sisters, Alfred, Martin, Theodore, Stella, Florence, Clara and Edward Kapes, Gertrude Sundra, Beatrice Harris, Eleanore McCune, and Irma Goodyear.

Surviving are her four children, William A. Planutis, III; Jeffrey Planutis and his wife Cindy, and Terri Mock and her husband Robert, all of Sugarloaf; and Donna Denial and her husband Kevin Lee, Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10 AM in Saint John Bosco RC Church, 573 State Route 93, Sugarloaf.  Burial will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston.  There will be no public visitation.
