Ralph Calvin Stauffer, 87, formerly of Hazleton and Fern Glen, passed away early Sunday morning, February 16, 2025, at Mountain Top Health Care and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness. He was a resident of Smiths Healthcare of Mountain Top since 2022.
Born in Shenandoah, April 6, 1937, he was the son of the late Ralph William and Marion (Dunsten) Stauffer, and he had spent nearly 30 years in Hazleton, after moving from Fern Glen.
Ralph was employed by General Foam / Tenneco, Hazleton, having retired in 1999 after more than 30 years. He had been a member of the former St. Nazarius RC Church, Pardeesville, and a longtime member of St. Joseph's RC Church, Nuremberg and Sacred Heart RC Church, Weston. Ralph was a very dedicated and hard worker who enjoyed his leisure time taking his young sons on bike rides, and visiting Knoebels frequently, and then including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as his family quickly grew. He was always interested in cars. He also enjoyed listening to music and playing the piano and organ.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his loving wife of 55 years, the former Veronica Rose Klesh, who passed away October 20, 2012. They were always together, never spending a day apart.
Surviving are three children, David Stauffer and his wife Joy, State College; James Stauffer, Pardeesville; and Ronald Stauffer and his wife Mary, Drums; seven grandchildren, Michael, Bryan, Jacob, Stephen and his wife Samantha, Nicole and her fiancée Michael Josselyn, Jessica Ciampi and her husband Frank, and Kristen Mahoney and her husband Tom; five great-grandchildren, Rylan, Aubree, Kaleb, Bryce and Dakota; brother-in-law, Thomas "Tim" Klesh and his wife Patricia, Martinsville, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 9:30 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Saint John Bosco RC Church, Sugarloaf. Burial will follow in Calvary RC Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM.
