Pauline Catherine Tait, 87, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at her home following a sudden illness.
Born August 1, 1938, in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Verna (Klesh) Gottstein. She spent the past 34 years in the Washington, D.C. area, including the last 11 years in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Pauline was a 1957 graduate of Black Creek Township High School and attended Empire Beauty School and McCann School of Business. A former member of Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, she devoted her early years to raising her family and singing in the church choir, often performing solo at weddings and holiday services. She also worked in several local dress factories, where she frequently handled bookkeeping in addition to her regular duties.
In 1991, she began her career as a Front Desk Receptionist at the BakerHostetler Law Firm in Washington, D.C., where she worked for the next 29 years, supporting more than 250 attorneys. In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Gerald Gottstein; and her grandparents, John and Anna Tomko (Klesh).
Surviving are her former husband, Louis Tait of Nuremberg, Pa; her daughter, Mary Lescowitch, and husband Edward of Weston, Pa; her son, Jeffrey Tait, and partner Bernard Dellario of St. Michaels, Maryland; her sister, Annette Gottstein Crowe of Pensacola, Florida; a granddaughter, Amanda Lescowitch Varrone, and husband Anthony of Alexandria, Virginia; a grandson, Zack Lescowitch of Vancouver, British Columbia; a great-granddaughter, Emilia Varrone; and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held privately at the convenience of her family. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen, is assisting the family with arrangements.
