Paulette M. (Platukis) Platukis

Paulette M. Platukis, 76, of Cape May, New Jersey, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 24, 2023, at her son's home in Drums, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Fern Glen, on December 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late George and Irene (Pekala) Platukis, Sr. and had spent most of her life in the Valley and Cape May.

Paulette was an Educator for many years. She was a Math Teacher and Vice-Principal at Hazleton Area High School for 32 years and was an Adjunct Professor at Penn State, Hazleton for 14 years. She received her Bachelor of Science and Master's degrees from Bloomsburg University and her Principalship Certificate from Temple University. Paulette served one term on the Hazleton Area High School Board and was on the Board of United Charities, Hazleton Area School Employees Credit Union, and the Board of the Greater Hazleton Concert Series. She loved cooking and baking for her family, spending time in her garden, and teaching and working with children. Her greatest joy was traveling to Cape May with her grandchildren. In Cape May, she was a member of the Garden Club, Paddle Club, Kiwanis Club, Cape May Stage, VFW, Cape May Diamonds Meet Up, and a chairperson of the Village Green Committee.  

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her twin brother, Paul Platukis; and brother George 'Tookie' Platukis, Jr.

Surviving are two sons, Shawn C. Mrochko and wife Renee, Sugarloaf; and Gregg P. Mrochko and wife Faith, Drums; four grandchildren, Zachary and wife Emily, Devin and wife Tiffany, Madison, and Julia Mrochko; a brother, James Platukis and wife Barbara 'Bobbi', Supply, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 11 AM from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart RC Cemetery, Weston. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9 AM until the time of the service.
