Patricia O. Hess, 70, of Drums, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, March 11, 2025, at home surrounded by family, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Pat was born on November 16, 1954, to John and Barbara (Romanauckas) O'Hare in Hawthorne, NJ. After graduating from William Paterson University, Pat moved to the Hazleton area, where she met the love of her life, George, and they had two daughters, Amanda and Erika.
Pat's career spanned decades designing jacquard fabric for the furniture industry and more recently, she was employed by JA&WA Hess, but she also found time for a variety of hobbies, including designing jewelry, reupholstering furniture, and learning to ride horses. One of her favorite pastimes was decorating elaborate cakes for her loved ones. She was an amazing seamstress who could sew almost anything including pillows, curtains, and wedding dresses. Pat loved shopping with her daughters and was always in search of a great deal.
Pat was deeply involved in the community through substitute teaching at both MMI and within the Hazleton School District, American Association of University Women, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Pony Club, and several book clubs. She had an amazing circle of friends and acquaintances. Pat adored her grandchildren and loved to spend time with them.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Surviving are her husband of 44 years, George, Drums; daughters, Amanda Kriebel (Brandon), Jarrettsville, MD; and Erika Munoz (Santiago), Nottingham, MD; father, John O'Hare, Hawthorne, NJ; four grandchildren, Alexandra and Olivia Kriebel, and Benjamin and Isabella Munoz; a sister, Laure O'Hare, Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming months. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
