N. George Hinton, Jr.

N. George Hinton, Jr., 83, of Drums, passed away Thursday evening, January 2, 2025, at his residence in Drums, following a brief illness.

Born in Pottstown, October 23, 1941, he was the son of the late North George Hinton, Sr. and Laura (Bitting) Hinton Light, and spent the past 43 years in Drums, after moving from Hazleton.

George was a Truck Driver for General Foam, Hazleton; Whitebread Trucking, Sugarloaf; and Yanunzzi Overland Unlimited Trucking Company. He was a US Navy veteran and served for a total of 8 years. First as a jet engine mechanic and then served during the Vietnam Conflict from 1963 - 1967 where he was a Flight Engineer having flown a P3A Orion, an anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft.  George was a social member of Butler Twp. Fire Company, Drums.  In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, watching football, NASCAR, and listening to polkas on Saturday nights.

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a sister, Nancy Olerud; and his former wife, Bonita Lillian Hinton.

Surviving are two children, George A. Hinton, Mount Joy; and Ann M. Hinton and her husband Joseph A. Winters, West Hazleton; two grandchildren, Giada and Harrison Hinton; Mount Joy; a brother-in-law Art Olerud, Ocala, FL; and two nephews.

His funeral will be held privately at a later date with a Celebration of Life to be announced by his family.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Sugarloaf, PA 18249 is assisting the family with the arrangements.
