M. "Nip" June Schlauch, 98, formerly of Nuremberg, passed away Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton following a sudden illness.
Born in Nuremberg, June 29, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mabel (Smith) Kamerzel and had spent most of her life in Nuremberg.
Nip was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, and caretaker to many. She was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Nuremberg, the church consistory, was a member of the church's women's guild and a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Nip enjoyed baking, canning, and cooking for church dinners and affairs. Her apple pie was the best around and was a favorite of her family and friends. She was fond of refinishing furniture, was an avid mystery reader and enjoyed quiet walks in the snow.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband Paul Schlauch; two sisters, Thelma Fickner and Ruth Martz, and a brother, Robert "Butch" Kamerzel.
Surviving is her son, Barry Lee Schlauch, Mt. Top; several nieces and nephews; the Knelly Family; and longtime friend, Dennis Force, Mt. Top.
Her funeral will be held with a Memorial Service on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11 AM in Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 255 Mahanoy St, Nuremberg. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Mt. Grove. Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service. Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc.
