Michael Baran, Jr., 95, of Hazleton, passed away Saturday afternoon, December 23, 2023, at his residence in Hazleton. 

 Born in Stockton, PA, August 21, 1928, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Barvilchock) Baran, Sr. and had spent most of his life in Hazleton.

 Michael was a Radar Technician for Tobyhanna Army Depot for 25 years having retired in 1989.  He was also the owner and operator of Mike Baran Handyman Repairs and Asphalt Paving, both of Hazleton. He was a US Army veteran having served from 1946 to 1948. He was a member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed big game hunting and muzzleloading.

 He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by several brothers and one sister. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. 

 Surviving are his loving wife of 72 years, the former Angeline Vitacco to whom he was married on May 5, 1951 in Hazleton; four children, Michael Baran, Black Creek Twp.; Deborah Baran, Hazleton; James Baran, and wife Lori, White Haven; Anthony Baran and his wife Kim Martini Baran, Drums; daughter-in-law, Louise Baran, Conyngham; 12 grandchildren, Alicia Sidari and her husband Randy Wysocky, John Sidari, Jr. and his wife Melissa, Nina Temchatin and her husband Chris, Leah Baran and her companion Chris Burns, Michael Jared Baran, Kaley Baran, Tara Baran McGeehan and her husband Brenden, Toni Baran, Scott Michael Baran, Dawn Fisher and her husband Jeff, Olivia Martini and Owen Haslam; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

 His funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
