Matthew R. Broyan

Matthew R. Broyan, 66, of Berwick, passed away, Friday afternoon, July 21, 2023, at his residence following a lengthy illness. 

 Born in Hazleton, May 12, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert and Virginia (Bishop) Broyan and spent the past 38 years in Berwick, after moving from Nescopeck. 

 Matthew was a farmer at Faihopity Farms in Berwick, which was his family farm. He was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Berwick; and a member of the Farm Bureau.  As well as taking care of his family Matthew was an avid deer hunter, and enjoyed welding, excavating, restoring tractors and dozers, and taking care of his equipment.  He was always extremely active and hardworking, having passed his work ethic and knowledge on to his family.

 He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a brother Douglas Broyan. 

 Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, the former Sandra Renaud, to whom he was married on July 1, 1978; five children, Christopher Broyan, Nescopeck; Patrick Broyan and his wife Anne, Berwick; Mary Broyan, Nescopeck; Katherine Broyan, Danville; and Sarah Broyan, Berwick; nine grandchildren, Kaylee, Mackenzie, Lucas, Olivia, Bristol, Adeline, James, Owen, and Amber; two sisters, Elaine Broyan and Linda Broyan; a brother, Benedict Broyan and his wife Bonnie, all of Berwick; and many nieces and nephews. 

 His funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc. (East), 669 West Butler Drive, Drums is assisting the family with the arrangements.
