Mary Louise (Tokash) Maylath

Mary Louise Maylath, 93, formerly of Hazle Township, passed away early Monday morning October 21, 2024.

Born in Hazleton, November 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Banyas) Tokash and was raised in Freeland.  She graduated from Foster Twp. High School class of 1948 and moved to Hazle Township.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.  She was a member of Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph. She was also a member of The Run-Abouts Card Club, the Christian Mother's Association, and the Hazleton Elks Lodge #200.  Mary loved spending her time cooking, taking vacations to the shore and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. 

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband, Vincent J. Maylath, Sr. who passed away February 21, 2003; a granddaughter, Michelle McGarry; and brothers and sisters, Andrew, Helen, Betty, Frank, Pauline, Martha, and Robert.

Surviving are four children, Mary Beth Notaro and her husband Michael, McAdoo; Vincent J. Maylath, Jr. and his wife Denise, Hazle Township; John F. Maylath, Sr. and his significant other Sharon Hunsinger, Sugarloaf Twp.; and Lori Baran and her husband James, White Haven; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  The family would also like to thank all of Mary's compassionate caregivers.

Her funeral will be held with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 10 AM in Saints Cyril & Methodius Parish at the Church of St. Joseph, 604 N. Laurel Street, Hazleton.  Burial will follow in St. John's RC Church Cemetery, Freeland.  Friends may call at the church from 9 AM until the time of the Mass.
