Marie (Visintainer) Yackanich

Marie Yackanich, 99, of Drums, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hazleton following a brief illness.

Born in Hazleton, August 18, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Marcolina) Visintainer and spent most of her life in Drums.

Besides being a homemaker, Marie was a seamstress and co-owner of The Sewing Nook, West Hazleton. She was a member of Good Shepherd RC Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Sunday Breakfast and Tuesday Bingo.  She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower garden.  Marie was the last survivor of six siblings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Yackanich and siblings Anna Rutland, Madelon Morgan, Louis Visintainer, Ferdie Visintainer, and  Adolph Visintainer; son in law Robert Kaminsky; and two nephews Thomas and Michael Morgan.

Surviving are a daughter Josine Kaminsky, Drums; two sons, Peter Yackanich and wife Patricia of Hammond, IN; Joseph Yackanich and wife Mary Beth of Drums; six grandchildren Jennifer Kaminsky; Krista Rafalli and her husband Gene; Matthew Yackanich and his fiancee Tina Sanchez; Cameron Cain and her husband Nick; Madison Yackanich; McKenzie Yackanich; sister in law Mary Visintainer; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, November 3 with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd RC Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday morning at Good Shepherd RC Church, from 9:30 AM-time of Mass. Harman Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums is assisting the family with the arrangements.
